Privacy & cookies
Effective October 15, 2026.
This statement covers the public For Your Inference website at fyi.today and foryourinference.com. You can read and filter the news without an account or agreeing to save your reading preferences.
Your reading preferences
If you choose “Allow preferences,” we save your reading mode (For The Dummies or For the Wonks) and category filter in a cookie on your browser. These settings help the site remember how you like to read on your next visit. They contain no name, email address, account identifier, or unique visitor identifier, and we do not use them to build a reader profile or track you across websites.
Before you choose, we do not save either of the cookies below. After you allow or decline preferences, we save your choice so the prompt does not keep appearing. Choosing “No optional cookies” removes any saved optional reading preferences. The news stream still works, but it will not remember those settings for your next visit.
These cookies belong to the specific website address you visit. Your choices on fyi.today and foryourinference.com are separate. They do not follow you to another browser or device. Your browser sends cookies to the same website with subsequent requests, so “saved in your browser” does not mean the cookie never leaves your device.
Change or remove your choice
Use the “Cookie settings” link on this page to change your choice or stop saving preferences. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If storage is blocked, the site still works, but it may be unable to remember your choice or preferences. Deleting the choice cookie makes the prompt appear again.
Reading mode and category also appear in shareable page URLs. Anyone who receives a link can see those selected settings, even when optional cookies are declined.
Hosting and security
Cloudflare hosts and delivers this website. To deliver requests and protect its network, Cloudflare may process information such as your IP address, requested URL, request time, and browser or request headers. Its security features may also use necessary cookies. These are separate from our optional reading preferences. Cloudflare describes its processing, retention, and international transfers in itsprivacy policy. The preference-cookie durations above do not describe Cloudflare's request-data retention.
Cloudflare Web Analytics is enabled on both domains. Cloudflare automatically adds a measurement script to public pages to report page and loading-performance measurements. According to Cloudflare, this service does not use cookies or browser storage and does not fingerprint visitors. This measurement is separate from our optional preference cookies; choosing “No optional cookies” does not disable it. SeeCloudflare's analytics privacy informationand analytics FAQfor its collection and retention details.
The public website does not run advertising scripts, provide reader accounts, or collect information through a sign-up form.
Images and links to other websites
Some article images may load directly from an external publisher or source. That host receives a request from your browser, including your IP address and browser information, when the image loads. We request these images without sending a page referrer. Following a source or other external link takes you to a website with its own privacy practices. Our cookie choice does not control those websites.
Privacy questions and requests
Contact For Your Inference at privacy@foryourinference.com with privacy questions or requests about your information. Please include only the information needed to explain your request.
Changes to this statement
